AMERIGO VESPUCCI SHIP
The Amerigo Vespucci is the oldest ship in the Italian Navy, and its motto, “Not he who begins, but he who perseveres,” attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, emphasizes perseverance. It serves as a training vessel for Navy cadets and young members of sailing associations.
For over 30 years, it has been committed to environmental protection, collaborating with UNICEF, WWF, and Marevivo. Thanks to its diplomatic missions around the world, it is considered a traveling embassy of Italy.

2023-2025
Twenty years after its last circumnavigation, the Amerigo Vespucci has set sail for a new, extraordinary journey around the world. Departing on July 1, 2023, the world’s most beautiful sailing ship will travel the seas for 20 months, during which it will reach 5 continents, 30 countries, 35 ports, and cover over 46,000 nautical miles, combining the training of Naval Academy Officer Cadets with an important diplomatic and cultural mission.

On June 10th, on the occasion of the Italian Navy Day, the closing event of the Amerigo Vespucci World Tour was held in Genoa. A memorable event that brought together music, technology, and emotion. For the first time, the “Meravigliosa” orchestra took the stage—an impressive ensemble of 250 musicians from the Armed Forces and the Guardia di Finanza, joined by the choir of the Teatro dell’Opera “Carlo Felice”. They performed live during the six-act screening of the Ship’s journey, in an immersive narrative set to the notes of Italian masterpieces, from Verdi to Morricone. The evening concluded with a moving tribute to Vespucci Ship: 1,750 drones lit up the sky in a breathtaking light show, honoring the legendary ship that carried Italy’s name across the world.
