The Brass Band of the 10th Carabinieri Regiment “Campania” of Naples

The Brass Band of the 10th Carabinieri Regiment “Campania” of Naples, heir to the bands of the VII Royal Carabinieri Legion of Naples and the XIV Royal Carabinieri Cadet Legion of Turin, was established by Royal Decree on June 18, 1862, which regulated its use within the framework of “military music” and initially set the number of its members at 12. This number was later doubled in 1883 by the General Command of the Carabinieri, eventually evolving into its current organizational structure.

In 2001, the Piedmontese Band was disbanded, leaving the Neapolitan unit with the distinction of being the oldest band in the history of the Carabinieri. Today, it is based in Naples at the “A. Caretto” Barracks, headquarters of the 10th Carabinieri Regiment “Campania,” to which it belongs. Traditionally referred to as a “Fanfara,” the ensemble has gradually adopted the “vessellian” configuration of a small symphonic band (with a staff of 35 musicians), while preserving its historical military character. The Band of the 10th Regiment “Campania” stands out for its frequent presence throughout central and southern Italy, participating in major events with deep ethical and commemorative significance, performing in full parade formation wearing the Grand Special Uniform.

Renowned for the excellence of its performances and the breadth of its repertoire, the unit has—thanks to the professional talent of its members—evolved into a true “Symphonic Band” capable of performing any musical genre. It consistently garners acclaim and success from audiences as well as from military, civil, and religious authorities. On February 12, 2014, it was awarded a Commendation for demonstrating impeccable military style and high musical mastery during numerous high-level artistic performances, thereby contributing to enhancing the prestige of the Carabinieri Corps.

The Band of the 10th Regiment “Campania” is conducted by Senior Warrant Officer, Maestro Luca BERARDO.
