ARENA DI VERONA FOUNDATION

PROFILE OF THE EXCELLENCE

The Fondazione Arena di Verona, one of Italy’s fourteen Opera and Symphony Foundations, organises the world’s most renowned open-air opera festival, held every summer in the Arena di Verona. This extraordinary Roman amphitheatre — together with the legend of Romeo and Juliet — has made Verona one of Italy’s most beloved and visited cities. Every year, from June to September, the Arena hosts around fifty performances of opera, galas, and concerts, presenting the most celebrated works of the operatic repertoire, with particular attention to the masterpieces of Giuseppe Verdi. Since 1913, the year in which the Festival was inaugurated with Aida — considered the Arena’s signature opera, performed more than seven hundred times — the stage of Verona has welcomed the greatest performers of the international opera scene, enchanting millions of spectators from all over the world who continue to experience this unique magic under the stars.
For over fifty years, the Fondazione Arena di Verona has been distinguished by its permanent artistic ensemble, which includes an orchestra, choir, technical staff, and administrative team of the highest calibre. In addition to the prestigious summer festival, the Foundation organises, during the winter months, the Opera, Ballet and Symphony Seasons at the Teatro Filarmonico, as well as international concerts at major cultural venues and programmes dedicated to young people, schools, and music lovers.

THE EXCELLENCE WITHIN THE VILLAGGI ITALIA AND VILLAGGI IN ITALIA

At the Villaggi Italia in Doha and Abu Dhabi, the Fondazione Arena di Verona celebrated the grand Italian operatic tradition with concerts dedicated to the music of Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini.
The international audience was invited on an emotional journey through the masterpieces of Italian opera, featuring arias from La Bohème, Rigoletto, Turandot and La Traviata, performed by soprano Eleonora Bellocci, tenor Carlo Raffaelli, baritone Youngjun Park, and pianist Federico Brunello.
