PROFILE OF THE EXCELLENCE
The Winter Olympic Games are a global sporting event featuring competitions in winter disciplines — those held on ice or snow. They have been organised every four years since 1924. Until 1992, they took place in the same year as the Summer Games; since 1994, however, they have been held in even-numbered years not divisible by four.
The XXV Olympic Winter Games, also known as Milano Cortina 2026, will be held from 6 to 22 February 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the two cities jointly awarded the event — a first in Olympic history.
In addition to Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, competitions will also be hosted in Rho (MI), Assago (MI), Bormio (SO), Livigno (SO), Predazzo (TN), Rasun-Anterselva (BZ) and Tesero (TN).
With this edition, Cortina d’Ampezzo will become the fourth city ever to host the Winter Games at least twice, following St. Moritz (1928 and 1948), Lake Placid (1932 and 1980) and Innsbruck (1964 and 1976).

Villaggio Italia also served as a showcase for what lies ahead with the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, promoting the values of sport, inclusion, and the enhancement of Italy’s landscapes and mountain regions.
During the Jeddah and Singapore stages, visitors attended a panel organised by the Ministry of Tourism and the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT), addressed to tour operators, media professionals, travel agencies and wedding planners, to present the opportunities and potential of tourism linked to the Olympic event.
