ACCADEMIA TEATRO ALLA SCALA
PROFILE OF THE EXCELLENCE
Founded in 1813 as the Imperial Royal Academy of Dance, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala is today a renowned centre of excellence for training in the performing arts. Under the Presidency of Victor Massiah and the Direction of Luisa Vinci, it welcomes around 1,700 students across more than thirty programmes within its four departments: Music, Dance, Stagecraft & Workshops, and Management.
Supported by leading public and private institutions, the Academy offers scholarships and advanced training programmes led by over 300 teachers, including artists and professionals from the Teatro alla Scala itself.
Direct contact with the professional world forms an integral part of the curriculum, through internships, projects, and performances that are part of the opera house’s official season.
An international outlook is one of the Academy’s defining features: its students take part in productions, concerts, and artistic initiatives in Italy and in more than twenty countries worldwide.
THE EXCELLENCE WITHIN THE VILLAGGI ITALIA AND VILLAGGI IN ITALIA
At the Villaggi Italia in Los Angeles and Tokyo, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala brought its artistry and international prestige to the stage with musical performances and concerts that captivated audiences, celebrating the creativity and talent of a new generation of Italian artists.
In particular, a lyric concert featured four opera singers from the Academy’s advanced training course for vocalists — Alexandrina Mihajlova (soprano), Valeria Girardello (mezzo-soprano), Riccardo Della Sciucca (tenor), and Sung-Hwan Damien Park (baritone) — accompanied on piano by Jeong Un Kim from the Academy’s Music Department.
