In the magnificent setting of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, and in the presence of institutional representatives, the incredible results of the initiative ‘Vespucci World Tour and Villaggio Italia 2023-2025’ were presented.
IO AMO LA CUCINA ITALIANA
PROFILE OF THE EXCELLENCE
Italian cuisine, the most loved in the world, has always been a synthesis of culture, beauty and innovation — true nourishment for both body and mind. Through the Amerigo Vespucci World Tour, this excellence took centre stage within the Villaggi Italia, both in Italy and abroad, through a series of events and initiatives promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests (MASAF) in support of the candidacy of Italian Cuisine as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
It was an opportunity to celebrate Italy’s rich and ever-evolving food and wine heritage, the small and large enterprises that sustain it, and the values that inspire it: respect for tradition, commitment to quality, and care for the environment — essential elements in ensuring the well-being and health of consumers in Italy and around the world.
THE EXCELLENCE WITHIN THE VILLAGGI ITALIA AND VILLAGGI IN ITALIA
At every stop of the Villaggi Italia, visitors were invited to immerse themselves in the world of Italian cuisine, discovering its products, key figures and secrets. Abroad, the “Anima Italia” area, promoted by MASAF, offered a rich gastronomic programme featuring masterclasses dedicated to the preparation of pizza and pasta, with in-depth explorations of key ingredients such as yeast, tomatoes and cooking times, culminating in final tastings.
In Doha, a special “Starred Pizzas” masterclass, created in collaboration with Italia Olivicola, was presented to the public, while in Jeddah, in partnership with Fiera di Verona, a masterclass focused on table olives and Sol d’Oro olive oils, paired with three different types of bread. To complete the experience, a garden showcased — through scents and colours — the symbolic products of the Mediterranean diet, along with the main rice and wheat cultivars, illustrating the deep connection between Italy’s gastronomic culture and the land from which it is born.
Ample space was also dedicated to wine tasting, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties in the Arab countries, and to olive oil masterclasses held in collaboration with Italia Olivicola. Within the Immersive Hall, the exhibition “Divina – Immersive Excellence”, also promoted by MASAF, guided visitors through the world of wine in a multisensory experience celebrating Italy’s winemaking tradition.
