WE ARE SEA EXHIBITION

The biodiversity and coastal landscapes of the Peninsula and its islands in an exhibition on the beauty of the seas.

The Italian peninsula, with its large and small islands, is one of the most beautiful natural spectacles in the world, where human works have integrated into the landscape with harmony and beauty over millennia.

The knowledge of the seas, coasts, and Italian landscapes, along with the need to protect their richness, are the reasons behind the photographic exhibition conceived by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) for its extensive network of embassies, consulates, and Italian cultural institutes abroad.

The exhibition, now following the route of the Amerigo Vespucci around the world, presents visitors to the Villaggio Italia with a new perspective that also aims to highlight the study and protection of the sea. ‘We are the marine landscapes of our long Italian journey, of our large and tiny islands,’ explains photographer Luca Tamagnini.

‘We discover that we belong to many places by the sea more than other places in our daily lives.’ Preserving the marine landscape wealth of Italy and safeguarding its integrity is also a moral duty towards present and future generations, adds Tamagnini. The exhibition will also be accompanied by a series of conferences and debates dedicated to the sea and its fragile biodiversity.
