PROFILE OF THE EXCELLENCE
One of the most refined and versatile actors on the Italian stage and screen, Ugo Pagliai has devoted his career to exploring the power of the spoken word and the depth of interpretation.
Born in Florence and trained at the National Academy of Dramatic Art “Silvio d’Amico”, he has worked with some of Italy’s greatest directors, including Luigi Squarzina, Giorgio De Lullo, Orazio Costa, and Massimo Castri.
His long career stands as one of the highest expressions of Italian teatro di parola — theatre of the word — able to unite tradition and modernity with both intensity and restraint.

At the Villaggio Italia in Abu Dhabi, audiences were treated to the theatrical performance “Ovidio il poeta relegato. Metamorfosi dell’esilio” (Ovid the Banished Poet: Metamorphoses of Exile), featuring Ugo Pagliai’s extraordinary interpretation.
The performance offered an emotional journey into the soul of Ovid, the poet who transformed exile into art. In an intense and evocative theatrical reading, Pagliai guided the audience through the words and emotions of a man forced to live far from his homeland, yet able to find in solitude his truest voice.
Each verse came alive on stage, leading spectators through a path of pain, hope, and resilience, blending poetry and theatre in a universal reflection on humanity and the enduring power of art.
