In the magnificent setting of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, and in the presence of institutional representatives, the incredible results of the initiative ‘Vespucci World Tour and Villaggio Italia 2023-2025’ were presented.
Giotto. The Scrovegni Chapel
PROFILE OF THE EXCELLENCE
The story begins on 6 February 1300, when Enrico Scrovegni, a wealthy banker from Padua, purchased the area of the ancient Roman Arena to build a sumptuous palace connected to a chapel intended as both a private oratory and a family mausoleum. The chapel — a small, single-nave building — was constructed between 1302 and 1303.
At the age of thirty-six, Giotto was commissioned to adorn the monument with an extraordinarily complex iconographic programme. Through his revolutionary innovations in composition, space, and emotional expression, he transformed the Scrovegni Chapel into one of the greatest masterpieces of Italian and Western art. The Chapel, with its fourteenth-century fresco cycles, is part of Padua Urbs Picta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising eight religious and secular building complexes.
Thanks to Magister Art — an innovative SME and digital-native company operating in the cultural and creative industries — Giotto’s works within the Scrovegni Chapel have been reinterpreted as an immersive film and sound experience, narrated through multimedia sequences of iconic images accompanied by an original musical score.
THE EXCELLENCE WITHIN THE VILLAGGI ITALIA AND VILLAGGI IN ITALIA
Space, perspective, humanity, emotional depth, patronage, and genius loci are the sensorial dimensions that the filmic experience by Magister Art evokes through a highly engaging journey inside the Chapel. The presentation follows a dramaturgical and musical narrative, in the finest tradition of Italian cinema, enhanced by the experimentation of visual, multimedia, and graphic animation effects. Visitors to the Villaggi Italia were thus able to immerse themselves in a unique and meaningful experience, accompanied by an original soundtrack specially composed for the occasion.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Padua.
