6The Amerigo Vespucci arrives today for the first time in Phuket, Thailand, marking the 27th stage of its World Tour and the third in Southeast Asia. Before Phuket, the ship stopped in Belawan, Indonesia, where it welcomed over 5,000 visitors in less than 48 hours.
ITALIA GENIALE EXHIBITION
An extraordinary showcase of Italian design products and features from the past and present… to glimpse its future.
The exhibition “Italia Geniale,” promoted by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, showcases to the world the inventive, creative, and design capabilities of Made in Italy. It does so with 82 products, divided into five categories, which are the result of genius, design, and innovation. Each is driven by an ideal: allowing users to “be a person.”
The exhibition was organized in collaboration with ADI (Association for Industrial Design), which, as the scientific curator, selected both historical and contemporary patents and products, some of which have been awarded the prestigious “Compasso d’Oro” prize.
The interpretative framework is “guided” by design: this discipline always aims for innovation, combining function and beauty. The exhibition aims to transcend the idea of the user as merely someone who uses artifacts, considering them instead as the core of every creative activity—a “person” who, through artifacts, expresses talent, capability, and potential. The concept of “person” is taken as the driving force of the narrative. These abilities converge into five categories: moving freely and safely (move-able), taking care of oneself and others (live-able), having the conditions to imagine (imagine-able), fostering relationships with other living beings and artifacts (relation-able), and working with dedication (work-able).
