A unique opportunity to appreciate the work of an innovative artist known worldwide, even in the space!
We are Vespucci, we are art… contemporary art. Yes, because Italy, when it visits the world, does not only bring the history of its culture but, above all, its present and its future.
This explains the presence in the Villaggio Italia of “la David,” the latest original work inspired by Michelangelo’s masterpiece, created by Jacopo Cardillo, known as JAGO, a young but already famous Italian sculptor. A digital artist (one of the most Instagrammed) but also very physical since his works are marble sculptures. An artist who draws inspiration from the past and aims to surpass it: “Imagine if we could have seen Michelangelo creating one of his works in a timelapse? I want to see that.”
JAGO also boasts a unique achievement: he is the first artist to have sent a marble sculpture to the International Space Station. This happened in 2019, on the occasion of the ESA (European Space Agency) Beyond mission. The work in question, titled The First Baby and depicting the fetus of a newborn, returned to Earth in February 2020 under the custody of the mission leader, who is also Italian, astronaut Luca Parmitano.
