After the stop in Tokyo, the Vespucci ship sailed nearly 2,000 miles over 15 days. On board were the First-Year Cadets of the Naval Academy of Livorno, engaged in their training.
CONI: THE OLYMPIC TORCHES
The burning torch, lit by the torchbearer and passed from hand to hand, tells the story of the solidarity of a sporting event, indeed, of the sporting event par excellence: the Olympic Games. And this competitive and respectful character at the same time lands with the Vespucci at the Villaggio Italia and can be admired here by tens of thousands of visitors at each stop: here the Olympic torches will be displayed in an exhibition that combines design, technology, and the values of sport.
“To trace the history of the Olympic Games through the torches that have ignited and animated them means reliving our common history,” explained the president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, at the opening of the exhibition. And these words are even more relevant today, as the torches arrive at the Villaggio Italia in Los Angeles just weeks before the start of the Paris Olympics, and four years before the subsequent Olympic Games that will be held right in the City of Angels in the summer of 2028.
